SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (25 July)—Surveys trigger skepticism as shown in the latest Social Weather Station (SWS)  which showed “negative performance rating of the Arroyo administration” and , in the case of the Pulse Asia poll, “up to 40 per cent of the 1,200 respondents expects President Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday to be “untruthful.” 

No one is sure whether the SONA is “untruthful” or not but this mindset, however, prompted Malacanang in urging critics and other skeptics to listen to the SONA before making any conclusions.

 DAGUPAN CITY – Applications for new scholars for next school year at the Philippine Science High School is now open. 

Regional Director Elsa R. Chan of the Department of Science and Technology said all graduating elementary  pupils for school year 2007-2009 are eligible to apply for the PSHS Scholarship  provided they belong to the upper 10% of the graduating class; are Filipino citizens with no pending application as immigrant in any foreign country, not more than 15 years old by June 30,2009, of good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program, of good moral character. An applicant must also not have taken the PSHS national  competitive exam previously.

There appears to be little surcease or relief, especially in this third quarter of July, August and September during which we’ve seen all sorts of disasters happen, going by our common experience of past years and decades.
